Easy, quick, nutrient dense desserts
A lot of you have been requesting dessert recipes. Truth is, a lot of the desserts I make routinely are so simple they do not call for a recipe. This is most likely because when I am craving something sweet, I am typically not patient enough to spend more than 15 minutes making it. Here are some easy, quick and nutrient dense sweet treats to make when you are not inclined to follow a recipe.
Berries & Nut butter
The classic flavors of a PB and J without the heavily processed ingredients. I like to use almond butter and top with almonds, chia seeds and raw unfiltered honey. Other topping ideas will be listed below.

Date Bowl
We have all seen the delicious almond-butter filled dates dipped in chocolate to mimic the common candy bar, Snickers. Although I have made these before, and loved them, it is not always necessary to take all those tedious steps. Instead, simply cut the dates up and top with chocolate, almond butter and any other desired toppings.

Chocolate Covered Berries
As a chocolate lover, nothing beats chocolate covered berries. Incorporate more nutrients by topping with hemp or chia seeds. Be sure to use chocolate with quality ingredients. I use Hu’s Chocolate Gems.

Healthier Dessert Topping Ideas:
- Chia seeds
- Hemp seeds
- Raw, unfiltered honey
- Hu Chocolate Gems
- Organic and unsweetened coconut chips
- Cinnamon
- Nut butter (only ingredient should be almonds, peanuts, etc.)
Health BEnefits:
Berries get their color from anthocyanins, which are antioxidants believed to have properties that support the immune system and prevent chronic disease.
Hemp seeds are a good source of healthy fats, containing omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Hemp seeds are also abundant in vitamin E, helping immune system functions as well as fiber, supporting digestion.
Chia seeds are a great source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. These antioxidants help to reduce free radicals within the body.
Raw, unfiltered honey in its natural state contains antioxidants with anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Dates are a source of phytonutrients, which are plant compounds that are immune supporting, anti-inflammatory and hormone regulating.
Raw almond butter is a good source of monounsaturated fats helping to lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol.
Cinnamon is high in antioxidants that reduce free radical damage.
Cocoa is high in flavanols, which are a compound in plants with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
