Recipe Series: PB & J Smoothie

A healthier spin on a classic combo

INTRO
Peanut butter and Jelly inspired Smoothie

The secret to a great peanut butter and jelly inspired smoothie is to blend each component separately to ensure the flavors do not get lost. This recipe is made with simple, nutrient dense ingredients to create a nourishing, healthier version of the classic combination of peanut butter and jelly.

The peanut butter used in this recipe should only have one ingredient: peanuts.

The jelly portion of this smoothie is simply made by blending frozen strawberries, chia seeds and water.

INGREDIENTS

Peanut butter portion:

1 frozen banana

2 tbsp peanut butter (only ingredient should be peanuts)

1-2 tbsp hemp seeds

1 tbsp raw, unfiltered honey

2-4 ice cubes

1/4-1/3 cup milk/water to desired texture (I recommend using milk for this portion of the smoothie. Be sure to use milk/milk alternative with simple ingredients. I use Three Trees Original Almond Milk)

‘Jelly’ portion:

1 handful frozen strawberries

2 tbsp chia seeds

1-2 splashes of water to desired texture

INSTRUCTIONS

Blend frozen banana, peanut butter, hemp seeds, honey, ice cubes, and milk or water to desired consistency. Set aside.

In a separate container, blend frozen strawberries, chia seeds and water to desired consistency.

Pour both blends into one cup to create a delicious peanut butter jelly inspired smoothie.
